Video from the truck stopCollapse )

Although the day was really cooking (did we mention that before?) we decided to stop at another truck stop along the Hume Highway so that Sarah and Kazzy could pose for some bellydancing shots. Yes, at a truckstop.

There's not too much to say about this part of the trip except that it was fully of pretty and very bloody hot. Here is the pretty:

OK so J and I are writing this in tandem even though it's under her username, this is because our combined powers of AWESOME are so much that it requires both of us to type at once.

As a result J's bit will be in italics. Yah. So anyway, before we left Goulburn it was absolutely imperative that we visit Ye Olde Big Merino, which is exactly what it sounds like... a building fashioned into a really big sheep on the side of the road. See?:

See, see, see?Collapse )

Now for those of you wondering why one would erect a huge sheep by the side of the road, it's because sheep are fairly important to the economy of the area, hence with our previous quote, "What is the main industry around here?" "Sheeping!"

It was also bloody hot inside the head of the Big Merino - I couldn't be fucked going up but the others did and reported it as being so.

Well J says she can't remember being up there but we all know what J's memory is like.

There's a gift shop in the bottom part where a very nice lady told me I could take all the photos I wanted, and Kazzy and Sarah defied the signs and defiled the merchandise:

MwahahahaCollapse )

I bought something here I think, but can't remember what it was, and the others bought water because it was outrageously hot, seriously.

We all commented on how nice the people in Goulburn are, and how it sucked that such nice people had to be on Stage 5 water restrictions.

Anyway on we drove, and because previous plans had been laid down for us to romp around the countryside bellydancing whilst J took photos, we stopped at a truck stop outside Yass to get changed.

Now, although I'm straight I am a fan of boobs. But dear Kazzy, was it really necessary to show yours at a truckstop next to the biggest highway in Australia?

Yes it was J.

There you go. Apparently, it was.Collapse )

Contrary to J's opinion, there was nobody out there as this is the Australian bush and it was bloody hot. We stopped the car behind a public loo and got dressed there but I decided not to get fully dolled up yet coz we wanted to find a more glamorous location for the photo shoot. However we did somehow break out the drum and zils and started dancing for no reason:

Does dancing ever need a reason?Collapse )

Well Kazzy, that was awesome, and perhaps we'd better tell everyone about the really awesome bits in the next entry?

Yes J - I'd forgotten this is quite a long entry already.

ENDUT

PS- J would like to point out that all complaints re: the size of some of the pics be directed at bacardibreezer7 and not herself :)

Is this thing on? :)

EDIT: We do humbly apologise for the year of silence. This was due to some interpersonal issues which I will not relate, as I am far too classy for that, but will become apparent (probably) as we continue to update. Because, really, it was the best road trip ever. :)

Soooo....as I was saying, we finished up at Ranelagh House and continued on. As we were leaving town, we saw Gallery Serpentine where they sell all manner of corsets and Victorian dresses and other lovely costumy type stuff that makes you look TEH PRETTAY. We were going to go in and try on some stuff but by that time we were a bit sweaty and icky already coz it was a warm day, so rather than soil teh clothes of loveliness, we just continued on our way.

Other memorable quotes from Goulburn:

- "Me and Sharah sared a plate". - J

- "What sort of farming do they do around Goulburn?" - Me
"Sheeping". - Sarah

- "Are you writing about my schmick u-turns?" - J

Now it's J's turn I believe...coming up next, THE BIG MERINO!

So as J has said, we drove through Macquarie Pass, which is TEH PRETTEH and came out at Robertson and had seriously the best pie I've ever had in my whole life. It had these gorgeous ripe cherries in it and they didn't taste fake at all and seriously I could eat that pie all day. OMG ORGASMIC PIE.

*fans self*

Anyway...on we went to Ranelagh House, which the girls told me was this big mansion type place that used to be a seminary or a nunnery, and now there were like peacocks in the garden and stuff. On the way we saw a missing peacock...it was just wandering out on the road all by itself, oh noes! We were slightly concerned about it, but truth be told it'd probably find it's way back, I'm sure it knows where to go to get a meal. :)

Then we arrived at Ranelagh House and it was as gorgeous as the girls claimed it was.

Okay, so due to my *censored* PhD, I wasn't on the road trip. However I have been given the official word (and now, posting access! :p) to contribute to the introduction... the Friday Night of Glory.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the car that took me to Sydney Airport to pick up bacardibreezer7 for our own little mini road trip down to jussacgirl's abode.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And this is me getting into the car. My expression says, "This is the fourth photo I've taken, and NONE of them look nice. WTF is going on?"

I was tired. I was very tired actually and had some trouble keeping my eyes open on the trip down. Which is not cool.

Anyway, I made it to the airport, and drove around Arrivals about six times hoping I'd run across Kazzy (as opposed to run over, which would also not be cool). I've never driven around Arrivals before, as my parents always ask to be picked up from Departures. I see why. Each loop around took like 5 minutes, because you had to battle the taxis, and there wasn't actually any place to stop and pick people up anyway. Not that I really cared about the driving speed, because I was driving as slow as possible trying to find Kaz.

Anyway, so when she got off the plane I suggested Departures, where you're not TECHNICALLY supposed to pick people up, but there was hardly anyone up there so it really didn't matter. And we found each other! And teh mini road trip began, with our drive to Wollongong. 'Twas uneventful, except for our sneaky use of a Maccas facilities without actually spending any money there.

So. We made it to J's, as previously described. veiledsarami was there also, and excitement reigned! We ate and talked and took some photos...
Yes, we took photosCollapse )

I'm not ever going to be a fencer, am I?

And Sarah went home and a bit later I went to bed, because I'm a piker like that.

The next morning, I think I had some breakfast, and then... I drove home. And yes, my children, that is what is known as an anti-climax. Going home (via work, no less) instead of going on the BEST ROAD TRIP EVAH. Pity me.

Since Myl is being a slowcoach, I have been pushed to post out of synch (bad Myl! Bad! :p )

So here lies my account of Friday, January 19, 2007- a day that will surely be counted among the annals of the key social events of 21st century civilisation- a day I count as the official kickoff of

THE BEST ROAD TRIP EVAR.

It started slow. I cleaned the house, I packed the car. I played Freecell six million times. I waited. Oh how I waited.

Shortly after 9pm veiledsarami came along after her shift at work, bearing gifts of beer and laptop. Squeeee! I'd been hanging to have a laptop with us so that we could upload photos onto it without having to find a digital photo service in the middle of godforsaken nowhere (i.e., one quarter of the trip :p ) This paid off, so yay.

So Sarah was kind of flattened after her shift and didn't say much, so I poked around on the laptop and kind of just stared at the walls until I hear a car pull in. OMG. THEY'RE HERE!!!!!!!!! :D

I love bacardibreezer7 and mylla. They are teh bestest. I hadn't seen Kazzy (Bacardibreezer7) for an entire year- and it was like we'd never parted. She bounced out of the car exclaiming "HUGS FIRST!!!" and gave me the biggest, bestest hug EVAR. I do think this was the first of BEST THINGS EVAR on this trip :)

Myl is always awesome. She looked particularly well this day, very slim and pretteh :)

We came inside and ate Apple Custard Cake and drank... well I drank beer, I think I made tea for the visitors. Kazzy, Myl and I had a conversation which rather alienated Sarah I think (we tried to explain at intervals wtf we were talking about but there's a lot of backstory and injoking in the Internet, I realised). Sarah ran away back to her house to go to sleep. The three of us that were left were feeling rather silly. I have a sword, and when we're feeling rather silly, said sword always comes out to play:

Kazzy, either trying to kill my bookshelf or trying a bellydancing move:

Day 1 (9)

This shot of Myl was so expressive it just begged for a macro:

Day 1 (4)macro

And the girls just hanging out on the lounge:

Day 1 (1)

Please be noting how adorable they are :)

We brought my little dog Bonney out to play with and she ran around being a hyperactive weirdo, much to the guest's amusement (I'm her mummy, I'm over it ;) ) We talked more fandom. All of a sudden Myl gets a strange look on her face and groans... "... is that a cockroach?"

"... Where?"

"... On that empty plate by your feet, J."

Lo, it is. A big cockroach. I'd have just squished him flat, but neither Myl nor Kazzy wanted the little guy dead, so cue a ten minute long chase of said cockroach throughout the house (fast little bugger) which concluded in me... squishing him flat. Baibai cockroach, we knew ye, Horatio.

Aaaaaaaaaand then it's late, and we have a huge day ahead (well, Kazzy and I, at any rate.) So to sleep we go. Myl heads for the back bedroom where she can get some privacy, Kazzy and I sleep in the living room (I could have slept in my own bed, but at that point, didn't wanna.) Myl's generously brought some bedding and stuff so we have a go at blowing up the airbed with a pump. Myl does it for a while, I send her to bed, Kazzy and I set to work on it.

And it don't work.

And then we break the pump.

And then I blow it up via sheer lungpower, and Kazzy sleeps on it, and everything's good. It's a hot night so we have the air conditioner going which turns out to be too cold, but I didn't want to turn it down on Kazzy while she was asleep in case it got too hot for her and she didn't know how to crank it back up. Turns out, she was cold too.

Kazzy... snuffles. (Well, she did that night :p ) The air con drowns it out so all's well, except I get cold and end up heading for my own bed and blankets.

Thus concludes my account of the Friday night :)

Hello my gorgeous ones. Particularly all my new gorgeous ones who joined us recently. :)

Just wanted to post a little reminder - this community is primarily about the roadtrips undertaken by jussacgirl, veiledsarami and bacardibreezer7 (and a few others who may join us along the way).

It's just that we've had a few notes where people have asked permission to make a post in the community about their own road trip - and while it's fantastic that you guys have had your own fun trips, we'd rather posts not be made about them just seeing as though this community is mainly for our own adventures.

Feel free to mention any outings you may have had in comments though. :) Sounds like some of you have had some good times.
